About Us

The Denman Children’s Centre was built in 1983. Denman Children’s Centre is a community based not for profit childcare centre. The centre is managed by a Volunteer Committee made up of parents and members of the local community. Monthly committee meetings are held during the second week of the month.

At Denman Children’s Centre we pride ourselves on our natural environment.  We encourage healthy risk taking and connecting with the earth as children explore the sensation of real grass, sand and uneven surfaces.

The Denman Children’s Centre is licensed for 39 children per day from 6 weeks of age until school age. Monday to Friday.

Preschool operates during school terms between the hours of 8:30am to 4pm.

School holiday care is also available.

The centre is closed for 4 weeks over Christmas. If numbers during other school holidays are low the management committee may elect to close on selected days, Parents will be notified of the changes.

Our Rooms

We have three rooms:

  1. Our Adventurers has 4 positions per day for babies aged between 6 weeks to 2 years.
  2. Our Explorers room caters for 10 children per day between the ages of 2 to 3.5 years.
  3. Our Discoverers room offers 25 places for children 3.5 to 6 years. These children being eligible to attend school the following year.

We provide a nurturing environment where your child will feel safe, secure and supported. Activities are planned for based on the individual needs and interests of all children enrolled at the centre. With a shared outdoor learning space siblings are able to find comfort from each other throughout the day.

We offer a wide range of activities based upon the children’s interests. These play based experiences are aimed at developing the whole child in readiness for school. Through play the children are developing all the necessary skills required in readiness for formal learning.

Our Program

Our program reflects a play based learning approach. The children can balance on logs, dig in the dirt and have access to water for playing all year round.

Messy play is an integral part of our program whether it be making a cake in the sandpit or creating a quarry with trucks, rocks and pipes.

Our eagerness to engage in a sustainable future has lead us to creating a thriving vegetable garden. The children enjoy sampling the produce, maintaining as well as planting seasonal crops.

Each room has a scrap bucket where the children place their food scraps. Some of these scraps go to the worm farm, others are taken home by children for their chooks.
